"A bug tung me"

This morning I had one of the biggest scares of my life so far.

Early this morning I was getting ready to give Wesley a bath since he had fallen asleep last night without one. He wanted his "Percy Choo Choo," so we went out to the car to get it. As soon as we walked out onto the porch, a sweat bee landed on Wesley's forehead and stung him.

It didn't seem to be too big of a deal. He didn't even cry, and said "Mommy, dat bug got me!!" Within about 30 seconds his left eye was swollen almost completely closed, and his right eye was half closed. His face was blood red with splotches and streaks everywhere.

We immediately headed to the ER. There they gave him a double dose of prednizone and benedryl and monitored him for a little bit. He thought laying in the hospital bed was a blast, and was proudly telling the nurses "a bug tung me... it WEALLY tung me!" I was so proud of what a big boy he was!

The doctor said that he could only hear a big of wheezing, so his air way wasn't blocked. And thankfully he responded to the medications very quickly. We followed up with his pediatrician this afternoon, who prescribed epi-pens that we will now carry in case he is stung again.

Some pics from our hospital visit (took them with my phone). In the last one he is trying to take the "brace-wet" off of his ankle.

Poor guy. What a brave boy though. Even in the hospital, he's super cute!

Oh my, so glad it was a sweat bee and not a yellow jacket or something! What a tough little guy Wesley is!
