Wesley's First Day of Preschool!

It's so hard to believe that this day has come - Wesley's first day of preschool!

I have thought about this day for years... literally!  We submitted Wesley's application to St. Pat's when he was just 3 months old.  At the time it seemed ridiculous - walking into a private elementary school carrying an infant and signing him up for preschool.  Thankfully he was accepted, and it seems like I merely blinked and TODAY is the day!

He is still "recovering" a bit from vacation, and slept unusually long this morning (go figure!)  I ended up waking him up at 7:00am and he was a sleepy head!  He ate breakfast and then did his first homework assignment - a Clifford coloring sheet.

Then he got dressed, put on his name tag and was ready to go out the door!  By the time we arrived at St. Pat's (only a 2 minutes drive) he was elated.  We parked, got out of the car and he was very adamant about wearing him backpack on his back "like the big kids."  He had picked out his backpack on his own, and he is SO very proud of it.

Once we got into the school, he was in awe of the older kids.  He stopped in the hall several times just watching them talk, high-five, and put their belongings into their lockers.  And when he found out that he had a locker all to himself he was SO excited.

Seeing him in the school, he looked SO big.  Like such a big boy.  Not a bit of "toddler" left in him.  I *almost* got misty-eyed... until I had to lift him up to reach the backpack hook in his locker.  Then I felt better... he's still my baby.

Today is such a bittersweet day for me!  I'm sad to see the "baby days" totally gone for Wesley... but so very excited to enter this new chapter.  And I'm so very proud of our big boy!
