The weather was absolutely gorgeous, although cool. The high temperature was about 68. It seems that last year at this time it was scorching hot, but I'm not complaining. It was fun to dig out a jacket to take along and smell fall in the air!

Wes and I waited in line for nearly 45 minutes to get his face painted, while Daddy listened to the WVU game at the building next door. Wes was very patient and didn't whine a single time while we waited in line (proof that it IS possible for him to be patient).

We had a great time at the Jubliee, although it is definiately not what it used to be. I remember it as being a huge event, packed with thousands of people. As a kid I couldn't wait to ride the hot air balloon, pick out a wooden toy in the craft barn, and eat some freshly made kettle popcorn. We did get some kettle popcorn while we were there, which was one of Wesley's favorite parts.
On Sunday we went to the Fireman's Show in Jane Lew, which has definiately grown in the past few years. There were a lot of exhibitors set up, and we found (and purchased!) some very neat photo mats/frames. I hope to share some photos of our find very soon.
Sunday evening we did some car shopping. We had been looking around at vehicles for a couple of weeks. My car turned over 65,000 miles, and I had been eyeing small SUVs for more space, so we test drove a Honda CRV and a Toyota Rav 4. My goal this week is to do some wheeling and dealing and find a good buy.
Yesterday we took a day trip to Blackwater Falls. The weather was aboslutely, gorgeously perfect! We went to the falls first, which were the lowest that I have ever seen them. I guess the lack of rain is really catching up to the area. Still, the falls were beautiful. Everything is still so incredibly green, with a couple of random trees speckled throughout that are starting to change color.

After going down to the falls, we walked out to Lindy Point. Wesley really enjoyed the "nature walk" to get there.

On the way out of Blackwater Falls Park we saw a sign for a Petting Zoo (which we had never noticed before), so we stopped. We found out the Petting Zoo is relatively new, and Wes had a blast. He got to pet rabbits and a tiny baby rabbit, goats and sheep, and saw a doneky, a parrot, a guinea pig. His very favorite part was getting to hold a chicken with a "fluffy head." He informed us that he "would like some chickens some day."

After leaving the Park, we drove on through Davis to get a closer look at the wind turbines. Although we have seen them many time from a distance, we had never been close to them. We drove through and over a winding hill and soon came within a stone's throw to one of the wind mills. I could not believe how HUGE they actually are - so bold and tall. They are awe-inspiring for sure.

We ate at the Canaan Resort before heading home, and were the only ones in the place. The server said that there were only 13 guests staying at the Lodge that night - off season for sure! We are planning a get away weekend in October when the leaves change, like we do every year. I can't wait to go back when fall has set in.
